Anastasia Akimenko
Biography
Anastasia Akimenko is a mixed media artist born in 1987 in Smolensk, Russia. She has developed a deep interest in painting since childhood.
Anastasia graduated from Smolensk State University with a degree in Fine Arts. She has worked as an art teacher and as the creative director of the design department in Russia and China.
Since 2017, she has been living in Hong Kong and teaching art at prestigious schools such as Harrow International School. Her experience as a practicing artist allows her to provide a wide range of knowledge, artistic techniques, and creativity in her educational endeavors.
Throughout her life, Anastasia has been fascinated by how life experiences and worldviews are expressed through art. From being a traditional artist, she has switched to experimental technique in 2024 and started creating magnificent fantasy flowers.
“These flowers come from my imagination, and they represent the joy or blossom of life. I start by intuitively spraying splashes of bright colors on the canvas, and these abstract, unknown forms later turn into flowers. Before they appear on the canvas, they exist - vibrant and alive - in a dream, perhaps in what could be called quantum space. They are radiate great energy, transforming the space and energy around them once they are brought into a room.
As I paint, these blooms become more than images; they embody my thoughts and emotions, capturing the essence of who I am. I want my artwork to remind people that we live in an impressionable and fantastic world where magic is alive in each plant, flower, and creature, and that they can feel that vibrant energy.”
Her paintings can be found in private collections across Russia, Europe, Africa and Hong Kong.
